My mother and I enjoyed our stay at MAF 01. Margherita, our landlady, was welcoming and returned quickly when we called her to with a problem with the front door lock. The lock remained troublesome, but we were able to unlock it with a little patience. The apartment was clean and comfortable and we were able to prepare some simple meals in the kitchenette. The bathroom is a little odd; there is no shower stall, just a drain in the middle of the floor. Showers get the bathroom pretty wet, including the toilet. The "terazzo" is just what you see in the picture: a small outside area with a high wall around it, but it does afford some natural light and fresh air and a place to dry clothes should you use the tiny little washer. The apartment is a little dark due to the lack of windows, but the arches on the walls and ceiling are lovely and the bedroom has a window that looks onto the neighbors back yard. The neighborhood was safe and comfortable for two single women and there is a small grocery store, a produce market a butcher shop, and a wine store in close proximity. The Pitti and San Spirito are both very close and we were able to walk to all of the major attractions. Don't miss the view from Piazzale Michelangelo. It's well worth the climb up the long, long steps. All in all, we enjoyed the apartment and our stay in Firenze. I would recommend this place to others as a simple, clean place to rest while enjoying the splendors of this amazing city.
